Message from Chancellor
Today it is harder than ever to know the best way to live our lives.
The modern age presents us with so many choices and challenges,
giving all the more reason to cultivate conscience in students
by offering a thoroughly unified educational system
from kindergarten through university.
I believe people can find fulfillment and happiness if they are able to determine the themes in their lives, such as their purpose of existence, and what kind of self they desire in their lives. Through the‘conscience education’based on Christianity, Doshisha not only aims to develop individuals who can serve the society and its people, but also aims to provide students with the opportunity to find their purpose in life and facilitate diverse forms of self-realization. As it takes time to implement the‘conscience education’that will form the basis of a person, our founder, J.H.Neesima, aimed to establish a well-rounded and comprehensive educational system from a young age through adolescence. In April, 2006, Doshisha Elementary School was opened, and in 2010, Doshisha Junior and Senior High Schools will be unified as part of our continuing efforts to follow in Neesima’s footsteps. We further pursue innovation and excellence toward the future with a determination to produce individuals with noble vision and ambition.
Chancellor of the Doshisha:
Minoru OYA
