GreeneConstructed by: Milano ConstructionDoshisha Hawaii Dormitory soon after constructionThe Friend Peace Scholarship Fund was established in 1911 in Japan at the proposal of Mr.and Mrs. T. Richards of the Friend Peace Foundation in Hawaii. In commemoration of the25th anniversary of the fund in 1936, a facility was established as a hub for international friendshipand Christian promotion in East Asia by renovating the house of J.C. Berry (Director of DoshishaHospital), known as‘Nashinoki Yashiki’. Management of the house and land was entrusted toDoshisha. The new facility was named Friend Peace House, Doshisha Hawaii Ryo (dormitory). Asa token of gratitude, Doshisha presented a hand-wash pot made of a special stone called Taiko-ishito the Richards in 1936.The house was renovated in 1997. In the spirit of its original philosophy, the house has been usedprimarily as a facility for international exchange.? 12 ?
